In Islamic theology, the dream realm (alam al-khayal) is considered to be a veritable source of knowledge, offering insight through another dimension of reality. In this workshop, we use the science of dreamscape as a gateway to access the sounds, messages, and signals that are channeled during our sleep cycles. Referencing the work of Tricia Hersey, we will explore mining our dreams as an embodied practice, and investigate how we can access creativity, ancestral memory and personal omens by surrendering into a state of deep rest.

How does what we hear before we fall asleep impact our dreamscapes? How can the sounds we intuit in our dreams inform our waking practices?

This workshop will open with a live performance of a Sudanese lullaby, followed by a sound bowl meditation and by a facilitated dream harvest exercise by Atheel Elmalik & Marwa Eltahir, and ending with a tea ceremony.
